Congressional Cemetery is a 35-acre historic, active burial ground located on Capitol Hill. Initially known as the Washington Parish Burial Ground, Congressional became the first truly national burial ground as Congress bought sites, buried noted civil servants, and funded the infrastructure.

Among the 67,000 burials at Congressional are scores of noteworthy citizens who left their mark on the city and the nation. Join this tour to learn the history of the cemetery and some of those buried here. The tour will be led by Congressional Cemetery President Paul Williams. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome – a rare perk, as the cemetery’s dog-walking wait list is long!

Saturday, April 14th
1:00PM-2:30PM
Congressional Cemetery
1801 E Street SE
Cost: $15 for DCPL members; $25 for non-members – Register here
